The Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women (ACCW) honors four volunteers with the ACCW Lay Woman Volunteer award each year at the annual ACCW convention. We are proud to announce that Karen Millner, of St Ignatius, will be recognized as one of the 4 recipients this year at the 2025 convention.
There are so many people that volunteer their time, talents and gifts for our parish and we are grateful that Karen will represent our St. Ignatius parish by receiving this award. Karen completes her Mission of Christ by example. Not only has Karen been extensively involved in volunteering for countless and various duties for St. Ignatius, but she has been a role model for her family and for our Annandale community. Both Karen and Roger have been leaders in the local Kiwanis and the Chamber of Commerce.
Some of the places you may have seen Karen serve in our parish is in Homebound Ministry, Holy Rosary at the Care Center, a parish funeral, The Living Rosary, graduation breakfast, the annual picnic, the Christ Child Luncheon, the Mardi Gras celebration, a CCW meeting, Bible Study, or Synod events. These are public events where there are many working together, but Karen has been caught many time “behind the scenes” doing things that just needed to get done. From cleaning kitchens and closets to organizing upcoming events…our Karen has always responded to a call with a heartfelt “Yes.”
The generous sharing of Karen’s faith, leadership and service has been recorded since 1973, when she and Roger moved to Annandale. We have all been blessed to have Karen and her family be a part of our wonderful faith family here at St. Ignatius. Congratulations, Karen and family!
The annual ACCW convention will be held on Friday, May 2nd in St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Michael. This might be a great opportunity to attend as it is so close. The cost for the entire day is $65 which includes lunch and the banquet.
