First Communion

Generally first communion Sunday is held the middle to end of April.  Those receiving this sacrament, generally those in second grade, need to have been baptized and a certificate of Baptism must be on record at the religious education office.  Also, the first communicant must have made his or her first RECONCILIATION before receiving the holy Eucharist.  Parents need to help their children realize the importance of attending mass and receiving communion each week

Grief Support

In wake of tragedy of loss, support can comfort those left with grief. Some of the things that we learn in a bereavement group are that the death of a loved one is the most traumatic loss we can experience.  Mourning is the grieving that follows a loss and comes in many different forms, depending on individual personalities, cultural traditions, the nature of the death, and the intimacy of the relationship.  Please contact the parish office 320-274-8828 ext. 0, or Sister Carol at 320-274-3512.

"Divine Mercy"

Divine Mercy uses the rosary as a chaplet for the salvation of souls all over the world. There is a Divine Mercy Sunday, following Easter. The devotion starts on Good Friday and continues for nine days. The chaplet can be said at anytime, however, the 3 p.m. time, when Jesus Died, is a special time to say "Jesus I trust in you" three times. For more information about Divine Mercy, please call Marilyn Bruggeman at 320-274-8136.

Confirmation

Students in the 10th grade who are baptized, have made their first communion and first reconciliation and have met various requirements, as per the religious education director, are eligible to be confirmed.  Confirmation usually takes place in April at the St. Paul Cathedral, on a date selected by the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.  Becoming a confirmed catholic elevates the student to adult status in the church.

Bible Study

Fellowship and sharing our faith story is what Bible study is about at St. Ignatius.  The past two years, we've had an enthusiastic growth in this ministry.  Presently, there are two group meetings following Wednesday morning Mass. One group studies Jeff Cavin’s Adventures in Matthew, meeting in the gathering space. The second group meets in participant’s homes, using The Little Rock series.

Last year both groups studied Jeff Cavin’s Great Adventure Bible Timeline of the Old Testament.  It outlines salvation history using fourteen narrative books.  He then has books in to support the story.

Participate in these studies, enjoy meeting new friends while expanding your knowledge of God’s word in our Catholic faith.  It's intriguing to hear others express how a deeper understanding of Scriptures leads to a greater appreciation and personal spirituality of the Mass. Call for more information. Fellowship begins at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesdays, followed by prayer and discussion, please call Renee Logeais at 320-274-5745 or Kay Brown at
763-863-3056.
